Big. That’s Yellowstone National Park. If you long for wide-open spaces, wildlife and insane geothermal landscapes, then this chunk of Montana and Wyoming is your place. Yellowstone has something for every photographic style and taste.
This is a fabulous place for a photo adventure: Sweeping valley vistas with deep canyons and powerful waterfalls, plentiful geysers and wildlife galore. From the hustle and bustle of Old Faithful Lodge to the grandeur of the Lamar Valley, there’s a reason Yellowstone is revered as one of North America’s greatest national parks.
In this small, 10-person workshop, we’ll split time between exploring this epic location and honing your photographic skills and creative vision through classroom training, shooting, editing and critiques.

Classroom and Lodging
Our base for the workshop will be in Gardiner, Montana, minutes from the northern entrance to the park. We will be using a rental house in town as the classroom and base for our excursions. The house can accommodate up to two additional workshop participants; contact me if you are interested in staying with us.
Transportation
The closest (and most convenient) major airport is in Bozeman, which is about an hour and a half from Gardiner. Jackson’s airport is also close, about 150 miles (3.5 hours) from Gardiner, and takes you through both the Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone. Many workshop participants rent a car, and we’re happy to get the word out with other students to see about carpooling arrangements.
From our classroom, we will utilize El Jefe, my 12-passenger Sprinter van, to access photo locations. Anyone wishing to drive separately is free to do so.
Payment Terms
The price of the Yellowstone workshop is $2795, which includes 5 days of field and classroom instruction. Participants who reserve their position with a deposit instead of the full fee will receive an invoice for the balance remaining no later than 90 days prior to the workshop. The balance must be paid in full 60 days prior to the workshop to hold your place.
All workshop payments are fully refundable less a 10% fee up to 60 days prior to the first day of the workshop. If you cancel anywhere from 59 to 30 days prior to the workshop, we will make every effort to find a replacement. If we can fill your spot, 90% of your workshop fee will be refunded; if we cannot find a replacement, we will refund 50% of your workshop fee. Any cancellation within 30 days is non-refundable.
