There’s no place like Moab. This Utah location has become one of our most popular workshops, and there’s a good reason for it: Epic desert vistas with deep canyons and otherworldly rock formations; incredible trails for hiking and mountain-biking; bright starry nights with low light pollution; and it’s all within easy striking distance of this great little town with good food and friendly locals.
In this 10-person workshop we’ll split time between exploring this amazing location and honing your photographic skills and creative vision through classroom training, shooting, editing and photo critiques.
On this workshop, I’ll be joined by my good friend Rick LePage, who will be helping me teach and lead participants during the workshop. Rick is an awesome photographer and instructor, and his presence gives us a 5:1 student to instructor ratio.

Transportation
While it is possible to fly direct to Moab’s Airport (Canyonlands Field: CNY), you can usually find more affordable flights to Grand Junction, Colorado (a 1:45 drive from Moab) or Salt Lake City, Utah (3:45 drive). Many workshop participants rent a car, and we’re happy to get the word out with other students to see about carpooling arrangements.
From our classroom, we will utilize El Jefe to access photo locations. Anyone wishing to drive separately is free to do so.
Our Classroom and Lodging
Our base for the workshop will be in a rental home in central Moab that can accommodate two additional workshop participants. Please contact me if you are interested in staying with us. We do expect that the unit will be filled completely.
There are plenty of hotels in the town with a wide range of prices (PDF)
